Original London Transport posters & new Keith Haynes Jubilee Vinyl

New in stock this week are these original 'Hop on a Bus' posters, produced in 1958 for London  Transport to encourage people to use the bus in wet and windy weather. The artwork was by Lobban, who only designed transport posters for a short time, from 1956-1960. These posters are very difficult to source in such perfect condition, and the beautiful frames only add to their desirability. We think they look best as a pair, but either would look great on their own as well!

Keith Haynes of Art Partnership, who created the ever-popular 'Vinyl Hearts series', has brought us these limited edition 'God Save The Queen' artworks, which are cut from original Sex Pistols 7" vinyl records. Timed just right for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, so grab one while you can!

Prohibition Era Display

Thankfully the UK has never had a nationwide ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol, unlike the United States 1919-1933 Volstead Act. As a result, many people opened illegal bars in their homes and nondescript buildings, made their own bootleg liquors, or had them imported from Canada. A very popular television series is currently covering the American Prohibition, so we created a display that we thought might resemble a secret hideout during that time.
Refined, but a bit rough round the edges, this display makes use of an original 1930's glass and steel chandelier, and rare original linen New York subway car blind. The sofa is part of a matching 3 piece suite shown here, and the mercury glass mirror for Golden Dawn cigarettes was pulled from a pub and dates from the 1920's. We have two of these pub mirrors, and both would have been very expensive to produce. The detail on each is amazing! The giant enamelled thermometer is also an incredibly rare find, and it still works!

Brian Hawkins Antiques

We stock a wonderful collection of antiques dating back to the 1800s and much of this is hand picked by Brian Hawkins, who has 40 years experience in the antiques trade. His trained eye ensures each piece will look fantastic in a period or modern setting. The craftsmanship of an antique is rarely emulated in today's mass produced world, and with the prices for antique furniture at an unusual low, now is the time to buy. An antique can retain its value through the years, outlasting trends and fashions. The very fact that many pieces have survived well over 100 years is testament to their quality. Brian brings in fresh stock on a weekly basis, so you are sure to find your next investment piece soon!
